Startup Weekend NYC

The team just met and made the decision to continue the project as a nights and weekends project.  The app will be developed and launched, perhaps late tonight, perhaps later this week.

The transition to a nights and weekends startup has taken place, building strongly on the friendships and passion of the team.  The team wants something to be released.

Would the team do it again?  100% said yes.  Did everyone have a great time? 100% yes.  Did everyone learn and grow 100%.

A project will launch, and there will be many good things to come out of the weekend.

But right now, a sigh released and the teams board the subway to get their way home, buying flowers on the way to say thank you to the loved ones that ok’ed the participation of the crazy thing called Startup Weekend.

All the teams have thrown it into high gear to prepare for the launch of the applicaiton.  We can’t give a time, but the words ‘late’ and ‘night’ come to mind.  You have to love the feel right before a startup launch!

Sunday at 12:30, lunch is ordered and almost here.  This is the time of the weekend where the question of launch and plans for the future start to really take place.

Everyone is working hard and is very upbeat about a launch, we even might have a robust early internal launch this afternoon.  The Creative team is working on taking or finding pictures of foods to use for users to ‘rate’ as preferences.  The developers are tweaking the API’s and working on the general workflow.  Our legal team is finishing up the Operating Agreement.  Finally, we are finishing up some videos.

The best thing about the weekend is the community, and the NYC crowd has been amazing.  Brilliant people working together to create a product that rocks for the user.  Kathy Sierra would be proud.

We put up a survery on this blog last night, and had an amazing response (150 responses).

Here are some quotes that help tell our story, and that people get the concept and want to see our project launch.

I never really thought considered it, but yes, many times you really are looking for the best pizza or fish ‘n chips or whatever. Or you’re going to a new restaurant (especially if you’re out of town) and you want to know what you should order to maximize the experience.

Quite a few founders came in from out of town- Texas, Colorado, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.  All came to NYC for the weekend with reccomendations from friends.

“You HAVE to get the cheeseburger at this burger place on the upper east side.  It is the best in the city.”

“The chicken sandwich at Washington Square Park is a can’t miss.”

Even your hometown has some hidden gems that you probably don’t know about.  Favoreats (our official name) will help your find it.

We’ve decided on the name Favoreats! Get it? ha ha

It’s Sunday morning - people are slowly coming in…

The developers are all pounding away on the functionality that the user experience team gave them last night and everything seems to be running smoothly.

The PR team is busy working on a commercial or two for Favoreats, which should be premiered by the end of the night.
